Job Description

Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) field-based physicians and scientists with in-depth knowledge of related GSK vaccines, who provide an expert interface between GSK Medical and the external healthcare community on medical topics. They help ensure the safe and effective use of GSK vaccines through appropriate scientific dialogue.


The role of the MSL is to provide a field-based medical service that puts the patient’s needs at the center of everything, building trust with healthcare professionals & use a two-way scientific dialogue to understand HCP needs and provide appropriate solutions in line with the GSK defined HCP engagement model.


The role ensures the safe and effective use of GSK’s relevant products through the proactive and/or reactive provision of product and disease area information to external experts in line with the local laws, regulations, GSK standards.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Identify HCPs with specific Medical Information (MI) needs or clinical expertise to inform GSK. Develop list of appropriate HCPs to address business need.
  • Initiate introductory meetings to introduce yourself, your role and start to uncover HCP needs. Agree upfront the frequency of interaction with each HCP and their specific information needs and interests - deliver a tailored customer service
  • Engage in scientific dialogue aligned with Medical Plan & HCP needs;
  • Report and share Medical Insights;
  • Attend scientific seminars, congresses, courses and meetings within and outside the company
  • Actively contribute in clinical studies, early drug access programmes, medical/medico-marketing projects, and scientific engagement activities
  • Reports spontaneous and clinical trial adverse events related to GSK products.
  • Helping to identify and contact potential investigators and sites for participation in GSK clinical studies. Helping in the feasibility process.
  • Acting as a point of contact for investigator-initiated CRT proposals and a link with the local medical department. Liaising between investigators and the local medical department regarding study logistics/implementation, reporting of adverse events etc.
  • In coordination with sales manager & medical lead to establish training needs and perform regional trainings for the field force  
  • Provide medical trainings to relevant brand team members regarding relevant GSK product(s) and therapeutic areas, using medically approved training materials.
  • Cooperation with sales reps and first line sales managers while planning promotional meetings.
